About

An ancient pub in the Forest of Dean & the Wye Valley

The Ostrich Inn is a charming and ancient pub situated in Newland, a beautiful village that lies on the western edge of the Forest of Dean and in the Wye Valley, both areas of outstanding natural beauty.

Come visit us, everyone is welcome! We offer some of the best local ales, food, and the best pub garden in the area!

Families

We are a family-run pub. All families are welcome. If you have any specific queries feel free to reach out via email or phone us.

Cyclists & Walkers

We love cyclists and walkers too.  Try one of our circular walks. We know how annoying it can be if you don't have a safe space to lock up your bike- so you can use our pub garden.

Shortly, we will have bike racks - keep an eye on our social!

We will try our best to cater to everyone's needs and be as inclusive as possible.

Since we are a 17th Century pub, wheelchair access is challenging at this time. If you have specific accessibility needs and would like to know more, please give us a call on
+44 (0)1594 833260 or email us at enquiries@TheOstrichInn.com.

Booking Terms & Conditions

The following terms apply to all bookings.

  1. We allow a 15 minute grace period for late arrivals, after that we will regard you as a 'no show'.  If you are running late, please just call and let us know and we will do our best to accomodate your new arrival time if we can.

  2. Bookings for 4 or more seats require confirmation by provision of card details.  Your card details may therefore be taken when booking and, if they are taken, they are stored by the payment provider Stripe as a security deposit in order to reserve your table.

  3. No money will be deducted from your account except in the event of a 'no show'. If you cancel with a minimum of 24 hours notice, no fee will be charged. In the event of a 'no show' on a booking of 4 or more seats you will be charged a 'no show' fee of £12 (inc VAT) per seat booked.

  4. We will only cancel your booking after we have confirmed it if there is an error or omission in the on-line booking system, or if it is necessary for us to do so for reasons beyond our reasonable control, for example damage to the building, power cuts, or staff sickness that cannot be covered by other staff members.

  5. Your booking is time-limited.  We may require your table for another party after 90 minutes (for bookings of 2), 120 minutes (for bookings of 3 to 8), and after 150 minutes for bookings of more than 8.  This time limit does not apply for bookings from 7:30pm.

  6. Please note that we are particularly busy on Sundays and we will almost certainly require your table back as per these time limits on a Sunday.

  7. If you need a longer reservation, for example for a celebration or because a member of your party requires longer to eat, then please call us on 01594 833 260 as soon as possible after requesting your booking and we will do our best to accomodate you if we can.

  8. Payment is of course required in full before you leave the premises.  We accept cash (GBP) and most major payment cards, including Apple Pay and Google Pay.  All prices include applicable VAT and our VAT number is printed on the till receipts.

  9. Guests with allergies or intolerances must inform our serving staff of their needs before they order.

  10. Unless agreed otherwise for private events, no charge is made for service.  All gratuities received are distributed to our staff.

  11. Rights of admission and service are reserved at all times to the on-site management.

  12. Our privacy policy applies and can be found via the link on the home page of our website.
