A recent review of the Ostrich Inn, a lovely scenic old pub situated in Newland

Welcome to the Ostrich Inn Kathryn at The Ostrich Inn Regional Winner of Perfect Pub Host

A lovely scenic old pub situated in Newland, a beautiful village which lies on the western edge of the Forest of Dean and adjoins the Wye Valley, both areas of outstanding natural beauty.

The Ostrich Inn is set in the middle of the village opposite the church and is thought to have taken it's name from the Ostrich emblem used by the Probyns, the local landowners in previous centuries.

The Ostrich Inn is a free house renowned for its excellent food with one of the best restaurants in the area, catering for a wide variety of tastes, including vegetarians.  Delicious home made dishes are created and freshly prepared on the premises producing an extensive and varied menu not available in many other local establishments.  As well as the intimate restaurant and welcoming bar, in the summer months visitors can also relax on the outdoor patios and in the large walled garden at the back of the Ostrich Inn.

Apart from an excellent menu, the landlady also prides herself on her range of real ales and usually keeps a range of up to eight on tap.  Add to this an affordable wine list and visitors will not be surprised to learn that the Ostrich Inn is listed in all the leading Pub guides.

A warm welcome is extended to families and Bed and Breakfast accommodation is available locally to complement this traditional country pub set in a picturesque part of the United Kingdom.
